Repeat prescriptions

You may request certain medications for your pet on a repeat prescription. For all repeat prescriptions we require at least 24 hours notice. This enables the medication to be sanctioned by the veterinary surgeon and processed in the dispensary by authorised personnel. The 24 hours notice also allows us to order a further supply if our stock is limited.

With the exception of routine treatments (shampoos, worming and flea treatments) we are legally required to see your pet at a maximum of 6 monthly intervals. However, this is at the discretion of your veterinary surgeon who may request more frequent checks, dependant on health status and the type of medication prescribed.  

These checks are to ensure that the medication is still appropriate and safe to continue using with your pets condition, assess your pet’s weight (which affects dose rate) and address any new concerns that you may have with regards to any aspect of your pet's health.

Written prescriptions are also available at a charge from this practice. You may obtain a written prescription and purchase your medicines from another veterinary surgeon or pharmacy. Our policy of regular check ups still stands, and your veterinary surgeon will only complete a written prescription following a clinical assessment of your pet under his or her care.
