Our weight clinics are designed to help keep your pet fit for life. All our nursing staff understand that keeping fit is not just about losing those extra pounds; its about living a healthy active lifestyle that includes a balanced, nutritious diet and the right amount of exercise.

Overweight pets often experience a reduced quality of life, as they are less able to enjoy exercise or interact with the family and frequently feel lethargic and sleep more. They are also at risk of a whole range of clinical problems, including heart disease, arthritis, breathing difficulties and diabetes mellitus.

We work closely with Hills Pet Nutrition, to provide you with a Pet Slimmer Programme especially for your pet. This is designed to help you and your pet work through an individually tailored weight loss plan together, with our nurses giving you lots of support and assistance along the way!

In order to achieve a safe and successful weight loss for your pet, we advise 3-4 weekly weigh-in appointments until your pet has reached their target weight. Regular appointments give the nursing staff a chance to review your plan each month, to make sure the weight is dropping off, to have a chat with you about your pet’s progress, and to reassess the diet if necessary.
